Word's Worth!

"Wassup?"
One word alone means a lot- what have you been up to; how are you; anything new... Well, depends on how you want to answer this. Nothing specific.

But isn't that supposed to be 'what's up'? Yes. We do know that. All of us have learnt the same A to Zs, recited almost the same poetry's and even read the same text books. Never heard or read this word then. On the contrary this is how you greet your pals with. So where did this word spring up from?

I don't know either. Of course might have heard it from someone and since then its been stuck to your tongue. You know, its kewl to use such lingo. 'Kewl'? Ah! Now I understand not the origin of the language but the reason for it to be part of our vocabulary. I'm pretty sure that such words will be included in the dictionaries too! Well, if bootilicious could make it then why not these day-to-day words.

Oh! I'm not complaining. But I am surprised how soon the lingo catches up with us! A few years back a person would raise eyebrows if he or she used the 'F' word. And just picture this! Today even teenagers cannot complete their sentence without it. So they use it when they are excited, when they are annoyed and not to forget even to abuse someone. One slang word communicating multiple expressions. Impressed? I'm rather confused. How are they supposed to control their tongue in formal situations further in life? Say for instance... interviews, official meetings... Better curb your enthusiasm then or simply swear under your breath!

Where is all this heading? Nowhere. Language does not belong to anybody. But every word you speak, makes an impression. Everyone wants to speak up their mind. So who's stopping you? Word is a weapon to hurt as well as lovely things said can melt the toughest heart. Just make sure what words you are using.

Now I am at a loss for words, so catch 'ya' later!

"...You think that I don't even mean,
A single word I say...
It's only words
And words are all I have
To take your heart away!"
- Boyzone.
